Nick and Jessica are seriously the sweetest couple. Been together for nearly a decade and still just completely smitten. I noticed their immense love for one another back when we did their engagements in Big Sur, but their wedding day completely blew that away. Everything about their wedding day, being on Nick’s childhood family farm, to their first look in front of the water tower with the heart on it, to the people they surround themselves to, to every last little sweet momento he whispered into her ear that day, I cannot even begin to explain how much love was felt by everyone in attendance.
Dustin called me about a month ago to plan his surprise proposal to his sweet girlfriend of 4 years, Sarah. They drove all the way from Montana for their trip to Monterey/Big Sur, and the entire time Dustin was trying to keep me in the loop without Sarah noticing during their drive. We sneakily decided on China Cove for the spot, and just in case we’d meet in Carmel and follow each other in, just in case anything were to happen when we were outside cell service. That morning, Dustin called in a slight panic, everything was going much quicker than anticipated and he was having a hard time stalling.
Brittany and Alicia are such a sweet couple. We met when Austin and I lived in Southern California, and shortly after we met, these two met and fell in love. It has been so special getting to watch their love grow! Brittany is actually one of our very best friends, and she got ordained many years ago to marry us when we eloped! It was so fun getting to capture their engagements in the most gorgeous light. We will be photographing & Austin will actually be marrying these two later in 2017. Love, love, love!
Nobody starts with the best gear, it’s almost a rite of passage. I spent countless hours reading and swooning over photographer gear blog posts, waiting for the day I would have a full frame body of my own. The day I would have prime lenses (before I even knew how much I loved them). The day I would have luxury glass from Canon.
These two are seriously the most gorgeous couple. I did a little happy dance when Michelle emailed me and attached a photo of her and her sweet fiancé, Kip. I just love it when I get to see a preview of the people I’m lucky enough to work with before meeting!
Okay, this is another old one, but at least these images are making their way out of the archives, right? To be fair, I have printed most all of these photos. So I get points there. Anyway, we went up to Washington in November, and took our friend Jayme with us. We got to explore a few places we’ve never been, and introduce him to some of our oldest favorites. It was a short trip, but one filled with great food, amazing views, and our favorite people.
With everything that’s been going on over the past few months, and then finally the launch of our new site (!) I have been barely able to keep up with the blogging, let alone the personal blogging. Well, in an effort to change that, here is a recap from our first trip to the Grand Canyon way back in October of 2015. This trip was just crazy, we had just gotten our roof tent and had it on top of our Chevy Sonic. We drove from Monterey CA to San Antonio, TX and stopped a ton of places along the way. It was great. More on that later.
We try to go to Olympia, Washington at least twice a year- once in the summer around my birthday, and again in the winter for Christmas. Sometimes it works out that way, sometimes it doesn’t. Our family has been making better habits of coming to visit us now, as well. This summer, we decided to drive north instead of fly because I got a new car and a rooftop tent for my birthday! I was just dying to break it in, and the coastal trip is my favorite by far.
