When you get a bunch of creatives together, magic can really happen. This shoot was a great opportunity for Laura at View Point Events to showcase some of her new furniture, and for all the vendors involved to try a few new things. We traveled to the stunning Schwan Lake Park in Santa Cruz, CA for the unbelievable oak tree that Laura spotted forever ago and has always wanted to have in a shoot.
A huge thank you to the amazing vendors that made this gorgeous portfolio piece happen! This shoot actually almost didn’t happen because a few key details didn’t line up, but we all managed to adapt and create magic. I loved working on this because we weren’t able to find a male model, and I personally feel one of my weaker areas is personal (individual) portrait posing & pushing myself to get detail photos without the couple in them. This was such a fun exercise for me and I was shooting without Austin by my side, which is very rare anymore. This shoot gave me so much confidence and excitement for future bridals and detail shots, AND shooting in light that was disappearing quickly in an environment that I wasn’t familiar with – this was very similar to a real elopement/bridal shoot and provided everyone involved some valuable insight into respecting light and time, and going with the flow when plans change.
We ended up arriving and finding the oak tree with only about a half hour-45 minutes (including trail walking time) to get both setups and the bridal photos. I’m so glad we all pushed ourselves a bit for this one!
Laura at View Point Events made the entire vision come to life and her unbelievable rentals and vision, Cassia Foret of course for being unbelievable with her floral designs, Glamology Beauty Lounge for being amazing at hair styling, and Sherice MUA for being a magician with makeup. And, last but not least, a huge thank you to Celina for modeling for us!
Again, a huge thank you to these wonderful ladies, show them a little love in the comments below or better yet, give them a follow on Instagram!
